A DAO to Rule Them All
How Daowabunga allows organizations to build DAOs like a pizza.
For those who are strangers to the crypto world, and aren’t into the terminology of Web3 technologies, a DAO is an online community of token holders, managed and controlled by smart contracts that set rules to govern and execute decisions in a self-sustainable way to pursue common goals.
Creating a DAO goes through a series of technical solutions of their entities for managing the proposals of the organization's members and for that, it needs at least a voting mechanism, a governance token or participation system, and a way to manage its funds.
Always remembering that a DAO is essentially a programmable organization of people that form around a shared mission and fosters an emergent online community
A few companies choose to develop their own DAO systems (which bring freedom of management but at the same time add many layers of complexity), while many opt to work with DAO tools and templates for creating their system that helps define the framework and offer the required infrastructure for everything the teams and founding members need.
While it's easy to understand why develop from strach a DAO is a hard task, for those companies that rely on the second option to create their own is that they need many specific tools and products, which despite being correlated, are not in the same space and weren't thought to work together from start, and for that reason don’t work as fluidly as they could.
What if there was a product with all DAO tools in one place as modules, that allowed users to build a DAO like a pizza, by letting them choose their toppings so they could get their own flavor?
That’s where Daowabunga comes into play.
Before getting into the product and what it does, I think it’s a good idea to go through a bit of the process of designing Daowabunga's Landing page and its objective of communicating how the product could transform the process of creating a DAO.
Every Landing Page is focused on conversion, and for that, you have to talk to the visitor consciously, through explanatory calls, and unconsciously, with the use of visual elements that contribute to the explicit fixation of what is being said.
To get along to the textual elements, the entire UI was based on Glassmorphism, to pin the idea of transparency that a DAO brings in its essence, and elements such as pizza ingredients are used to facilitate the understanding of customization during the configuration of a DAO. In addition, the brand elements communicate with the cool style of Psychedelic products and their audience, making clear references to ninja turtles.
Another very important thing that Daowabunga's Landing Page had to have was the ability to search and explore DAOs that already used Daowabunga as a DAO creation and administration engine, both to make the product more credible, and to provide the necessary transparency of what was being discussed in those environments at a governance level.
You already know Daowabunga has DAO tools as modules. But what does that mean in practice?
It means that a DAO created through Daowabunga is capable of managing token transactions, generating and managing proposal votes, and configuring essential operations such as voting power distribution, technical configurations of commands, and transaction history on a single platform.
One of Daowabunga's great differentials is to serve as a safe through a multi-signature smart contract wallet that allows users to define a list of owners and a threshold number of signers required to confirm a transaction at the same time as providing a decentralized voting system of multi-governance DAOs
One of the challenges was finding the right way to show these segments in the interface, and we identified that navigation would be optimized if separated by sessions as exemplified below.
Some features have different purposes for different types of user-profiles and all this had to be thought and pre-established for the different possible sessions of the platform.
Bringing the focus to the process of approving a token transaction, it was noticed that the user profile that would access this feature would be the owners of the MultiSig Wallet (financial operators of a DAO) who could have different types of technical background, what meant that it was necessary to provide general and code-related information of the proposals that needed approval in the most user-friendly way possible, this way the process of approval or rejection of the proposal was as grounded and clear as possible.
A lot has been done during the design process of Daowabunga and its features, and there is still much more to come. It would be really cool to write more about the platform as a whole, as the article had to focus a lot on the foundations and concepts surrounding the product to ensure it kept simple to all audiences.
The product is currently on pause as the company's focus is on its activity as a hosting platform for the next year, but I have a guess that there may be exciting updates about the future of Daowabunga in the market soon.
